Bristol Crocodile returns...
Get up close to a life-size woolly version of the Bristol crocodile as he makes his appearance at Underfall Yard Visitor Centre from 31 October.
Three years ago, bus driver Jolyon Rea spotted what he believed to be a crocodile swimming across the River Avon at high tide and, while the animal was never found, the story captured the imagination of Bristol people. When Vicky Harrison and Briswool volunteers created the giant woolly version of Bristol, they included several of the snappy reptiles in the Avon Gorge. Since then, one of the crocodiles has continued to grow. His coat is a beautiful pattern made up of hundreds of crochet motifs designed by Vicky and takes inspiration from the rich industrial past of the dockside, in particular the Pump Room floor at Underfall Yard.
The project is supported by Funding from Bristol City Council and The City Arts Team.
