New for 2020, Underfall Yard is happy to announce a new opportunity for visitors to experience the yard’s unique Victorian Workshop in action.
Underfall Yard is a working boat yard and docks maintenance facility that has been in continual use since the 1880s. While the history of the yard and the development of the Harbour can be investigated in the visitor centre, a lesser-known jewel in the yard’s crown is its ‘time capsule’ Victorian workshop.
This unique and evocative collection of 1880s forges, machines and the line shafting that drives them are once again operational. You are invited to join a workshop tour to experience our collection of vintage machines in action as they bring to life the work once carried out in this historic place. Tours cost only £5 per person and are designed to appeal to all ages and backgrounds and no prior engineering knowledge is required.
