In 2017, Adventurous Activity Company took many groups onto the water in canoes and kayaks as well as delivering their popular raft building challenges. The challenge involves teams of around 4 or 5 designing, building and racing rafts constructed from barrels, wooden poles and ropes. Success was mixed with disaster: it’s safe to say that the boat builders at Underfall Yard needn’t worry about competition!

In January, Iain Afshar (Director) and Andy Hills (Instructor) successfully summited Mount Aconcagua in South America via the Polish Glacier Traverse route. This peak stands at a lofty height of 6968 meters and is the highest peak in South America and one of the 7 Summits (The highest peak on each of the 7 continents). In November, they completed a 20 day high altitude trek in Nepal climbing 3 peaks each around 5550m covering around 180km’s distance and crossing 3 high mountain passes each approximately 5500m. Iain also completed two Ultra Marathon Trail races. Both around 45 miles with around 3500m of ascent.

After a well earned rest over Christmas, Adventurous Activity Company are now busy planning for 2018. Harbour activities will continue and the company hopes to launch a new venture combining their passion for adventure with photography. Photo Trekking expeditions to some of the most iconic trekking locations will hopefully be available from November 2018, with the first venture to the Nepal Himalayas.
